Telemedia Limited (BTL), Belize’s largest telecommunications service provider, is now using the MDS Lavastorm Business Performance Analytics Suite to optimize key service delivery and billing processes for its value-added services while it continues to deliver a superior customer experience.
Belize Telemedia Limited is Belize’s largest telecommunications service
provider, offering fixed line and mobile services to year-round and
seasonal subscribers. BTL’s business is highly dynamic, with almost 90
percent of subscribers using pre-paid plans, a large number of seasonal
visitors, and high overseas and international call volumes. These
characteristics make the processes of accurately tracking and billing
for subscriber usage highly complex.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our customers’ experiences
through innovative services or improving quality, but our analytics were
becoming an impediment to that,” said Ivan Tesucum, General Manager of
Finance at Belize Telemedia Limited. “Gathering and analyzing data from
multiple teams was taking too long and not providing the accuracy we
wanted. Lavastorm’s power and ease of use, however, allows us to connect
processes and their full data sets with almost no effort. It also

already seeing a huge uptake of the tool among many of our teams, thus
making us a more agile company.”
With the Lavastorm Suite, BTL has a global view of their service and
subscriber usage data at a detail level, allowing them to design and
track usage of more sophisticated, value-added services like pre-paid
mobile Internet and tiered service pricing packages. The Lavastorm
Suite’s visual interface and data-agnostic capabilities delivered a
rapid return on investment by empowering more employees to directly
manipulate data, and avoiding the large, up-front expense of needing to
build a data warehouse to access information from across the
organization. Service rating and charging accuracy has also been
increased with the Lavastorm suite’s ability to perform large-scale data
analysis.
