BOSTON – June 3, 2014 – Lavastorm Analytics, a leading agile data management and analytics software company, today announced the appointment of Woody Benson to its Board of Directors. Benson has a proven track record in helping businesses seize competitive advantage through sales, marketing, and go-to-market strategies.
“Woody is a world-class business builder,” said Drew Rockwell, CEO of Lavastorm. “Every day, more enterprises are turning to Lavastorm to achieve analytic advantage, searching for faster and more accurate ways to both discover and transform insights into action. Woody has been through numerous inflection points like the one we are experiencing and he knows how to capitalize on them – he is the perfect addition to our Board at this moment in our history.”
Benson currently serves as a General Partner of Prism VentureWorks, and as a Director for LogMeIn Inc. (NASDAQ: LOGM), ExpoTV, Arccos Golf, Woosports and Swirl Networks, among others. Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Woody served as Chairman, President and CEO of MCK Communications (NASDAQ: MCKC) where he was named Mass Telecom’s CEO of the Year. He’s been involved in the IPOs for four companies, managed investments in numerous mergers and acquisitions, and holds a B.S in Business Communication from Bentley University, where he also still maintains a role as an Executive in Residence.
“Big Data and the Internet of Things are creating inflection points very similar to the industrial, consumer and computer revolutions. I have followed Lavastorm for years as I have seen the company as an analytic pioneer in this emerging world, initially in the communications industry but now as a broad horizontal data analytics software company. They have the product and the big customer proof points and are actively building the team to capitalize on their unique position in the emerging data discovery market,” said Benson. “I am happy to join that team as a board member to help Lavastorm grow fast, while continuing to maintain its reputation for helping enterprises turn data into business value.”
